Before the MiDesk: Amina, an 11-year-old girl from a remote village in South Africa. She dreamed of becoming a doctor to help the sick in her community. But learning was difficult. At home, she had no desk, and with six siblings sharing a tiny space, finding a quiet corner to study was nearly impossible. She often did her homework on the floor, using an old crate as a makeshift table. When the power went out, she had to rely on the dim glow of a kerosene lamp, which made her eyes burn and gave her headaches.

After the MiDesk: Everything changed when Amina received her MiDesk. With a sturdy desk and built-in solar light, she finally had a dedicated space to study, no matter the time of day. Her handwriting improved, her focus sharpened, and her grades soared. Now, Amina confidently raises her hand in class, knowing she is prepared. She is more determined than ever to become a doctor and give back to her community.
