MiDesk began with a heartbreaking news segment—children sitting under trees, writing on their laps, their potential limited by something as simple as a desk. The MiDesk founding team looked at each other and asked, “What if children could have a desk at school and home?” Their kitchen became an innovation lab. With humble materials, sixteen-year-old Talita crafted the first MiDesk prototype for her Grade 10 science project—never imagining how far this seed of compassion would grow.Today, over 5,200 children across South Africa have MiDesks—portable workspaces that travel between school and home, providing not just a surface to write on, but dignity, opportunity, and the promise of a brighter future.
